Info in English

General

Finncon is the largest science fiction and fantasy convention in Finland. It is held in a different city every year and attracts thousands of fans from Finland and abroad. The next Finncon will be held in Turku in July 2026. We will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of Finncon (the first event was in 1986) as well as the 50th anniversary of one of the organizing societies this year, the Turku Science Fiction Society. This is why we have chosen the theme Beginnings (Alkuja in Finnish and Begynnelser in Swedish).

Finncon is free of admission and open to everyone of all ages and backgrounds. The programme will be mainly in Finnish, but there will also be lots of programmes in Swedish and English. The Guests of Honour are British author Adrian Tchaikovsky, Finnish author Reetta Vuokko-Syrjänen, fan Saija Kyllönen and researcher Hanna-Riikka Roine.

Venue

Finncon this year is organized in the main campus of Turku University, which is located on the Yliopistonmäki.

The convention is using the Main Building (Päärakennus)  and the Natura and  Agora buildings for programme, vendors and other things open to all visitors. The Quantum building is reserved for staff and gophers.

The information desk can be found in the Main Building (päärakennus).

Information desk is open:
Friday 1pm until 6pm (13.00 – 18.00)
Saturday 10am until 6pm (10.00 – 18.00)
Sunday 10am until 5pm (10.00 – 17.00)

If you are coming by walking from the direction of Hämeenkatu, the best way to get to the convention are is by the ”stairs of knowledge” which are across from the Kiinanmyllynkatu. Coming from the direction of the Turku Cathedral, you can access the Yliopistomäki from the stairs of the Koskennimenkatu park.

You can also easily get to the consite from the city center by busses number 2, 3, 5 and 6 that pass near the venue.

The nearest bus stop is called Yliopisto (TYKS U-sairaala).

Finncon also has the traditional Masquerade, you can sign-up for it using the form here (up until Thursday, July 9th) and during the convention at the information desk up until 15.00 / 3pm on Saturday, July 10th. More information about the Masquerade can be again found on the programme page.

If needed, you can still contact us at ohjelma@finncon2026.org.

Join us

Since the convention is organized entirely by volunteers and fans, we would love to have all inspired and interested fans join us in building Finncon!
If you’d like to participate in the planning, you can contact the organisers by email:  info@2026.finncon.org.

If you wish to volunteer during the con (as a gopher), you can come up to the volunteer desk found in the Quantum building during the convention to help out!

Supporting memberships

Finncon is always free for its participants, but it is possible to support the event by becoming a supporting member. Each of our supporting members receives a special event badge, priority access to popular programme items, and, if they wish, their name on the list of supporting members on Finncon’s website.

Without supporting members, as well as the grants and subsidies we receive, organizing Finncon would not be possible. Thank you to every single one of you! The sale of supporting memberships for 2026 has now been closed.
